Zhang Qian, who was dispatched by Emperor Wu of Han to establish relations with the tribe of Da Yuezhi, was captured by the Xiongnu, nomadic enemies of Han and detained in the court for 10 years. Quiet life ended when Lan Ji, the border general of Xiongnu, adopted an abusive policy on the captives from Han. Zhang Qian bore with all the humiliation and saved the lives of his people. However, his long-set escape plan was suspended because of the presence of Lan Ji. How to take his people away from the land became the biggest problem.
